SUMMARY: LC 33 7090 LC 33 7412S

Relates to miscellaneous provisions under the "Quality Basic Education Act". Would require every public school to post a sign containing the toll-free telephone number operated by the Division of Family and Children Services of the Department of Human Services, to receive reports of child abuse or neglect. Sign must be in English and other languages as determined by the local board of education and placed in a visible location in a public area of the school. 

Would also require schools to include in their curriculum annual age-appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education for students in grades K-9. Would also require a course in sex education and AIDS prevention for grade levels as determined by the State Board of Education.
